SHRINK FITTING
As metals changes in temperature they also change in size, if you heat it it expands, if you cool it it contracts.
Shrink fitting ‘shrinks’ the item by immersing it in a bath of liquid nitrogen.
Shrink fitting allows items to be put together with an interference fit without the need to heat or press. This removes the risk of distortion or softening that you get with heating and also the risk of deformation or surface damage associated with pressing.
We have carried out shrink fitting for heavy engineers, quarries, heritage railways, precision engineers, theme parks and commercial vehicle repairers.
